Lake Huron Shores is just a few metres away from the south border of Goderich, a thriving community in Southwest Ontario known for its idyllic sunsets. The town which was officially incorporated in 1850 has successfully preserved its architectural heritage. With its wonderful blend of historical charm and natural beauty, the town was awarded the 2009 Communities in Bloom’s Heritage Conservation Award.

Goderich is also one of the most densely populated towns in Ontario with 956 residents per square kilometre, even exceeding population densities of nearby cities like London and Sarnia. The capital of trade and culture in Huron County, it is one of the main shipping ports for domestic and international cargo shipments in Ontario.

The town of Goderich is also famous for the Sifto Salt Mine. Founded in 1866, it’s the largest salt mine in Canada with an annual production of 9 million tons.
